Set along the Arizona Canal in the heart of Scottsdale, The Monde is a multifamily residential community designed around the balance of energy and retreat. Originally developed as Waterview, the project responds to a changing Scottsdale demographic: young professionals, growing families, long-time residents, single parents, and empty nesters all seeking a residential experience that feels connected, contemporary, and distinctly rooted in place.
The design draws from the contrast of its surroundings. On one side, the quiet familiarity of single-family neighborhoods. On the other, the vibrant hospitality energy of nearby Old Town Scottsdale. Between them, the Arizona Canal becomes the project’s organizing influence, shaping a lifestyle that is active, social, restorative, and deeply connected to the outdoors.
Inside, the amenity spaces are conceived as an extension of home. The lobby creates an immediate sense of arrival through warm textures, soft seating, and a visual connection to the pool lounge beyond. Expansive glazing and operable openings dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior, allowing the public spaces to feel open, fluid, and connected to the canal-side setting.
The communal pool lounge anchors the resident experience as a layered social environment. Designed with distinct zones for gathering, dining, lounging, entertaining, and quiet retreat, the space offers the familiarity of a residential living room with the energy of a boutique hospitality environment. Natural textures, rich patterns, greenery, and varied seating groups create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where residents can gather with friends, meet neighbors, or simply unwind.
The fitness center and co-working lounge support the daily rhythms of modern urban living. The fitness space brings the outdoors in through natural materials, daylight, and views toward the canal, offering residents a place to stay active even during Scottsdale’s warmer months.
The co-working lounge provides a flexible environment for remote work, study, collaboration, and focused productivity, with private conference rooms, individual work nooks, casual seating, integrated technology, and a residentially scaled kitchenette.
Throughout the corridors and residential units, the design shifts into a softer, more personal expression. Warm lighting, muted tones, wood flooring, thoughtful built-ins, and contrasting kitchen finishes create a sense of calm and livability. The interiors are intentionally restrained and adaptable, allowing residents to bring their own identity into the space while still feeling connected to the broader design narrative.
The Monde transforms multifamily living into a hospitality-informed residential experience: grounded in comfort, shaped by community, and connected to the landscape and lifestyle of Scottsdale. Its design creates not just a place to live, but a place to arrive, gather, recharge, and feel at home.
