The Congressman Alan Lowenthal Global Trade & Education Center
Client:
Port of Long Beach
The Port of Long Beach Congressman Alan Lowenthal Global Trade & Education Center expresses a modern industrial feel that showcases the innovative and sustainable initiatives of the Port. These initiatives demonstrate why the POLB is the port of choice for investors, partners, and customers.
The 11,000 – square – foot space features exposed concrete columns, neutral greys tones, warm wood features throughout, and a unique dark black ribbon that diagonally cuts through the rectangular space unexpectedly, creating visual excitement. The project’s main function is as an exhibit space. There are multiple exhibit features to experience in this space including two interactive exhibits where gesture motion is used to navigate through content, large container shaped exhibits that guests can walk though, a Timeline wall showcasing the Port’s History and major milestones, an Innovation exhibit area and well as a Sustainability exhibit area showing the Ports dedication to being a leader in their business, and lastly, the main feature of the space is a 18’x 33’ 3D map table of the Port of Long Beach that can interface with a large feature screen wall nearby.
This project has a LEED ID+C Gold goal, matching the base building certifications of LEED Gold.
